2010 ABA Grands

Flew out the day before Thanksgiving. Got the upgrade for first class so I was hoping that was a sign of good things to come! Flights were delayed in Minneapolis for a few hours so I was late getting into Tulsa. Landed just after midnight and after waiting for about 45mins for my bags to come through I finally got them and headed back to the hotel for some much needed sleep.

Woke up Thursday morning and headed to scope it out. Track this year had a good sprint on the first straight with a pro section/ berm jump on the 2nd straight and 3rd straight rhythm/ decision maker. Practice went well on Thursday. Felt good down the first straight, was a little worried about the pro section to begin with after watching some people kill them self on it. Got it all dialed in and felt confident for Friday's racing.

Woke up and headed to the track Friday for the qualification rounds of racing for the pro spectacular that evening. I decided to race A pro Friday night to try get the remaining $300 I needed to officially turn AA. Got 2,1,1 in motos and won the 1/4. That was it for the days racing and got some chill time in before the semi and mains that evening at the pro spectacular.

Pro spectacular is probably one of the best races of the year in my opinion. Everyone comes and watches and its just got a all round good vibe. I won my semi and had first lane choice in the main. I chose gate 6. Had a late gate but tried to make up for it on the first straight. Banged some bars going into turn 1 but came out with the holeshot. Wasn’t the smoothest lap I could ask for but led it until the last corner where Thomas Fernandez made an awesome move to end up on top of the box winning the race, and I ended up with 2nd and the hole shot award. That gave me the money to officially turn AA.

After being loaded up on Jack3d for some energy, I had a hard time falling asleep. Ended up getting a few hours of rest before getting up at 6am for some breakfast and got ready for warm up at the track. Motos were stack as expected for AA. I felt good and was ready for the weekends race. We only raced 2 rounds of motos on Saturday due to there being about 520 something motos. In AA I got a 5th first round and 1st 2nd round. Pro cruiser I got a 4th and 1st. That wrapped it up for day 2 of the grands. Headed back to the hotel for a much needed dinner.

Sunday rolled around and felt really tired. Got to the track and sauced up on some jack3d, for some energy before 3rd round. Had a late gate and ended up with another 5th. made it out of motos and into the 1/4. Finished 2nd in 3rd round of pro cruiser, which went straight to a main so that was it until it was time for the main.

1/4 were really stacked.. I had high points giving me 2nd last gate pick. picked the outside incase of a late gate there would be no1 next to me. I did in fact have a late gate but made up for it. In turn 1 not sure if someone forgot how to ride but cause havoc crashing by them self, luckily I survived and made it out the corner in 5th. Made a move into turn 2 and held off for a 4th and made it into the semi.

It was 6 man semis and I had last lane choice next to Kyle Bennett. Had a solid gate and first straight but got put up in the first corner and was in 5th again going down 2nd straight. Really wanted to make the main and took a chance and tried to pass KB in turn 2 and it payed off. I took the 4th in the semi. I was so pumped to make the main at the grands. To me it was the most important race of the year, so to make the main was huge for me.

For the grands they ran the traditional 3 main events. First main even I snapped my chain out the gate, 2nd main I got 6th after having a really good first straight. and last main just had a late gate and ended up 7th.

Pro cruiser main event was up next. It was going to be interesting who ever won between Barry Nobles and Danny C got the title. I was lucky enough to be in gate 2 between the both of them. I had a super good gate spun a little on the first jump almost getting the hole shot into turn 1. Barry slid on by and took first while I got the 2nd overall.

All in all it has been my best season to date. A rough beginning of the year with some issues but worked them out and everything got better! A Huge thanks goes to my Coach Jonnathan Chislett. My parents for always being there and all my sponsors Morphine, Alienation,Fly, Enduro Bearings, and all my friends!

Thanks again!
